BCPS Recognized as a Guy Harvey Conservation District

Guy Harvey Conservation School

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is proud to announce its recognition as a Guy Harvey Conservation District, highlighting the District’s commitment to environmental education, marine science and conservation-focused learning opportunities for students.

The designation reflects the District’s growing network of schools and educators dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship through hands-on, real-world experiences. Currently, 11 schools across BCPS are recognized as Guy Harvey Conservation Schools, and 86 educators across the District have earned designation as Guy Harvey Conservation Educators.

“Receiving recognition as a Guy Harvey Conservation District reflects Broward County Public Schools dedication to empowering students through environmental education,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “When students engage in hands-on conservation and marine science experiences, they gain the knowledge, leadership skills and sense of responsibility needed to become thoughtful stewards of our planet and advocates for a more sustainable future.”

The Guy Harvey Conservation School designation recognizes schools that integrate conservation and environmental awareness into campus culture, classroom instruction and student engagement activities. Educators who earn the Guy Harvey Conservation Educator designation complete specialized professional development focused on marine science, sustainability and conservation education practices.

Through partnerships and innovative instruction, BCPS students are gaining opportunities to explore topics such as ocean conservation, wildlife protection, climate awareness and sustainability while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills that support future academic and career success.

BCPS remains committed to expanding environmental education initiatives that inspire students to protect natural resources and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
