BCPS and Solid Waste Authority Partner for Earth Day Celebrations and Recycling Education

WHO:
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Students, Teachers, Administrators and Staff; BCPS Applied Learning Department Staff; and Representatives from the Solid Waste Authority

WHAT:
In celebration of Earth Day, the BCPS Applied Learning Department and the Solid Waste Authority will host three special events across the District recognizing schools for their outstanding efforts to “Put Waste in its Place.” In addition, during each school visit, BCPS and the Solid Waste Authority will share details on a new partnership to increase recycling education for students.

8:30 a.m. – Noon

12th grade students in the Environmental Science and Everglades Restoration magnet program will present their senior projects to judges.      

Wednesday, April 22, 2026:
Beachside Montessori Village
2230 Lincoln St., Hollywood, FL 33020
9:45 – 11:30 a.m.

Students participate in Earth Day activities and enjoy a special visit by a Coastal Recycling Truck.

Friday, April 24, 2026:
Coral Springs Middle School

10300 Wiles Road, Coral Springs, FL 33076
9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Get ready to garden! Students and volunteers beautify the school’s gardens with donated plants.

WHY:
Broward County is facing a true trash problem with a lack of space in local landfills. The goal is to celebrate Earth Day while raising awareness about how everyone can make a difference by reducing waste and recycling right.
